Mounting
We stock or can order in all Arqadia (Larson-Juhl), Centrado and Bainbridge mount boards so if you have had any before and would like the same, we would be able to source that for you. All of these company’s mount boards are acid free so are essential for preserving your valued work. Even if you do not choose The Cornish Framing Company as your framer, we strongly suggest using a framer who can supply acid free mounts. Non acid free boards can lead to discolouration and damage to your art which is not ideal as it will devalue your art and in some cases completely ruin it.
Raised/Flat Float
A Raised Float is very similar to a “Flat Float” as it too gives the impression that the piece is floated however, what differs is between the mount board and art there is either a piece of board of 5mm foam core raising it. With a Raised Float you get a lovely shadow line all around the work which adds a touch more to the presentation of the art.
Window Mount
Window mounts are the most common and traditional way of displaying art. Using your choice of mount colour we use a special machine to cut a bevelled edged window out, this is then hinged onto an acid free insert board. Your work will then be delicately placed into position and attached to the backing board using a special tape which is reversible.
Float Mount
A Float Mount is essentially a mix between a “flat float” and a “Window Mount”. The piece will be floated onto a mount board and then a window mount will be placed on top of that mount board, usually with a gap of about 5mm between the art and the bevelled window. Depending on what the client wants the window mount and the backing mount the piece is floating on can be the same colour or in some cases different colours.
